I don’t believe people need fixing. I believe we make sense in the context of what we’ve lived through.

Sometimes the things we struggle with most began as ways of getting through something difficult. You may have learned to keep the peace, put other people first, stay strong, shut down what you were feeling or adapt yourself around the people in your life. Those ways of coping can make complete sense, even when they are now leaving you feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself.

I work with adults affected by trauma and complex trauma, domestic and sexual abuse, coercive control, bereavement and loss, difficult relationships, low self-esteem, sight loss and disability, high-control or religious environments, and significant life changes.

The relationship between us matters to me. I don’t see therapy as something I do to you. It is something we work through together. We might explore what is happening in your life now, something from the past that still has an impact, or patterns that seem to keep appearing in your relationships.

I’m curious about more than what happened. We can also explore what those experiences changed for you, what you may have learned about yourself or other people, and the ways you learned to protect yourself or stay connected. Understanding where a pattern came from can sometimes give you more choice about whether you still need it now.

My therapeutic work with adults in specialist domestic abuse and sight-loss services has given me experience of working with people whose sense of safety, identity, relationships or independence has been affected by difficult or life-changing experiences.

Our sessions do not have to follow a fixed formula. Sometimes talking things through will feel most helpful. At other times, we may slow down and notice an emotion, a physical response, something that feels difficult to put into words, or something happening between us that seems important. I may ask questions, offer reflections or gently draw attention to something I notice.

I am a humanistic counsellor and draw on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. My work is relational and trauma-informed, with an awareness of how attachment and earlier relationships can shape the way we experience ourselves and others.

A central part of how I work is the belief that meaningful change begins when we stop fighting against ourselves and start to understand and accept ourselves more fully. Therapy is not about turning you into somebody else, but about making sense of who you are, how your experiences have shaped you, and allowing change to emerge from that understanding.

I completed my professional training at Metanoia Institute and hold a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling, awarded by Middlesex University, alongside a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and a Certificate in Online and Telephone Therapy.

I am a BACP Registered Counsellor, DBS checked, fully insured and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

I welcome people from different backgrounds, cultures, identities, beliefs, abilities and life experiences. You do not have to leave important parts of who you are outside the therapy room.

And you do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say. We can start with whatever feels most important to you and take it from there.

I offer individual counselling in person and online. If you feel you might like to explore working together, you’re welcome to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation, giving you the chance to ask any questions and for us to have a brief conversation before you decide whether you would like to begin.
