KAREN

I worked as a psychotherapist for the NHS for 18 years using both person-centred and CBT approaches and I qualified as a certified ADHD therapist in 2024.  I offer a kind and supportive space to help clients work through their problems using therapeutic approaches appropriate to their needs, and I can do this either online or in person in Southchurch or Leigh-on-Sea

I am an accredited member of the BACP and maintain high working standards.

I can work with:

ADHD

Anxiety

Trauma

ADHD is one of the most debilitating conditions a person can have as it can affect many areas of their life.  In order to help clients with ADHD, I start by explaining why they are experiencing the problems they are and explore with them how the condition affects each area of their life.  We then work together on the areas they have identified in order of priority and I give them exercises and techniques to enable them to manage the challenges they experience as well as helping them to be more compassionate towards themselves.

Anxiety is also very debilitating as it often restricts what someone feels able to do.  I help clients to reduce their anxiety using CBT, relaxation and mindfulness techniques so that they can function better in their daily lives and find the courage to do things they might be avoiding.

I have worked with a number of clients who have experienced past trauma and offer a relaxed and compassionate space to enable the client to talk through what happened to them using a person-centre approach and exercises that might be helpful.
